Amsterdam selected to host Europe’s largest medical conference
The ESC Congress 2013 will be held at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 31 August - 4 September 2013. According to current estimates, it will attract over 30,000 participants (delegates, speakers and industry representatives) from more than 150 countries.
Every year the European Society of Cardiology Organisation
brings together all the different cardiology professionals, ranging
from surgeons and clinicians to researchers and nurses. ESC is
recognised as Europe's largest medical meeting, world's largest
cardiovascular Congress.
Good choice
"I am delighted that the ESC Congress is returning to
Amsterdam," says the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ESC,
Isabel Bardinet. " The choice of venue is particularly important to
get right because the Congress is the focal point of our calendar -
which is why the process to select a venue is so complex, demanding
and lengthy."
Amsterdam RAI has demonstrated that they can seamlessly absorb
over 30,000 professionals while providing international links, a
high quality transport infrastructure, modern logistics and event
support facilities, reliable communications and IT networks and
quality hotel accommodation.
Honoured
Hans Bakker, President and CEO of Amsterdam RAI said, "We are
very honoured and proud that the ESC Congress is coming back
to Amsterdam. The whole destination team is completely
aware of the impact of Europe's largest medical meeting and is
highly committed to making ESC 2013 a resounding success.
Strong co-operation between Amsterdam's local government and its
business and service sectors in the selection process demonstrated
a clear ambition to become the European 'City of Meetings'''.
City of Meetings
Stefan Diender, CEO Amsterdam Tourism & Convention Board
adds: "Amsterdam facilitates over 500 international conventions
annually. The Amsterdam business and service sector are doing their
utmost to attract more and larger meetings & events".
Taskfoce City Wide Congresses
Amsterdam RAI is partner within the new Taskforce City Wide
Congresses, a partnership between the RAI, Amsterdam Tourism &
Convention Board, Schiphol Airport, GVB public transport company,
TCA taxi service, hotels and the Economic Affairs department of
Amsterdam council. The goal of the Taskforce is to setup
multiple bids for large-conference proposals in an efficient way.
Amsterdam RAI and Taskforce City Wide Congresses joined forces in
